Indonesia’s furniture export to the US in Covid-19 Pandemic 2020 still rose up. The export value of Indonesian furniture products to the us (US) during the amount of January-May 2020, rose by 51.3% year on year (YoY) to US$ 582.11 million. It rose quite rapidly from US $ 384.82 million recorded in the same period last year.

From the worldwide Trade Atlas (2020), furniture exports to the US 2020 period is USD 582.11 million. This figure increased by 51.3 percent compared to previous year which was recorded at USD 384.82 million.

Bayu Nugroho, is a Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in LA. He say exports of Indonesian furniture products have not suffered too much from the COVID-19 pandemic. “This growth certainly gives a breath of fresh air to the performance of national exports,” Nugroho said through a politician statement.

Bayu explained, the rise within the value of furniture exports for the US West Coast region reached USD 366.21 million. This value jumped by 72.15%, compared to an equivalent period within the previous year which was only USD 212.72 million.

The driving force for growth in furniture exports from Indonesia comes mainly from demand from the West Coast.

The Ministry of Trade claimed that Indonesia is currently have ranking because the eighth largest furniture exporter to the US. The entire value of Indonesia’s furniture exports to the US in 2019 reached US$ 1.04 billion.

Based on BPS data processed by the Ministry of Trade, the entire trade between Indonesia and therefore the US from January to May 2020 was recorded at USD 10.75 billion, with a surplus for Indonesia at USD 3.70 billion. Whereas in 2019, the entire trade between the 2 countries reached USD 27.11 billion with a surplus for Indonesia of USD 8.58 billion.
